Where To Look For Resilience As An Entrepreneur

A couple of months ago, I attended a four-day retreat, in the middle of the Suffolk countryside. The foundations of the retreat were firmly rooted in the principles behind our experience of life (more on that another time).

During this retreat, I came to understand a lot of things, things that make a lot of sense, and things that can save us a lot of time and mental energy, in work and in life. Anxiety and the pointlessness of it was one of them, and I’ve already written about that, which you can read about here. Read more

This New Paradigm Of Business – In Conversation with Linda Anderson

“I love being part of this growing movement of support, collaboration and co-operation. I call it the ‘new paradigm of business’ where it’s not about competition, it’s about championing each other, and celebrating that. That’s what works best for the planet, not just me as an individual, that’s what works best for all of us.” (Linda Anderson, Tap Into Your Success)

The ‘Inner Journey’ Of Being An Entrepreneur (warts and all)

If you’ve been listening to The Happy Healthy Entrepreneur Podcast recently or receiving these newsletters for a while, you’ll often hear me talk about how the entrepreneurial journey is full of ups and downs, and twists and turns.

What you’ll also hear me say is that the rocky ride is all quite normal and expected; and actually, the closer we can sail to the reality of that, the less likely we are to feel frustrated, fed up, or disappointed when things don’t go our way. Read more

When fear gets in the way of marketing your business

When Fear Gets In The Way Of Marketing Your Business

Today, I’m talking about fear and when it stops you moving forward in business.

Maybe your fear is around networking?  Or perhaps you get it when thinking about delivering a talk to a group of people at an event? Maybe it’s fear about recording videos for your Facebook page or website? Or even just getting started with launching your business?

Whatever the fear relates to, for you, firstly I want you to know, that you’re normal. Read more

Podcast Episode 1: In conversation with Lucy Payne

It’s here….!

The first ever episode of the Happy Healthy Entrepreneur Podcast. Woo hoo!

August 2015, was the first moment I realised I wanted to launch a podcast (before I’d even started this business!), so after two years of ‘someday’, it’s time to take action. You’ll hear me talk in the intro part of this episode about how I went from procrastination to taking action, and when I did, it really was quite effortless, or perhaps I’ll call it ‘joyful effort’ (yes, even the techie bits!). Here’s Me Walking My Talk

I have a bit of a confession to make, would you like to hear it?

For a while now, I’ve wanted to create and launch an online course. You know, one of those courses where you record videos, and provide lots of useful resources, and create a lovely community of like-minded people, and then give them lots and lots of support and encouragement to get the results they are looking for?

Oh is that it, Sarah? So er, what’s the big deal? Read more

Anticipatory Anxiety

Anxiety Is An Incomplete Equation

In the work that I do as a hypnotherapist and coach, I very often talk to clients about the idea that when change happens, it happens within them, not outside of them. In other words, the world doesn’t necessarily change, but they will feel pleasantly different. It may be very subtle, and it may not even occur to them until they reflect on it. So they may have a new perspective on something, or see a problem in a very different way, to the point that it just doesn’t bother them anymore.

Anxiety is a bit like that. Very often people link anxiety to events, circumstances, people or situations. The first option they’ll try is to change those things first, or even move away from them. “when this isn’t in my life, I will feel better”. I’ve been there too, believe me!  Read more

Juggling School Holidays and running a business

Juggling School Holidays + Running A Business!

I don’t know about you, but as a self-employed business owner and parent, I do enjoy the change of pace that the School holidays seem to bring; a step away from the everyday routine is nice to do, and usually welcomed by the time it comes around! In fact, a previous coach of mine, who doesn’t have kids works in flow with the school terms anyway, and I don’t recall it being just because most of her clients are parents either.

As I write this post here in the UK, we’re approaching the longest holidays of the School year; anywhere between six and nine weeks depending on the School. If you’re a solopreneur and you have school age children, that can feel pretty tough to get your head around. On the one hand, it’s lovely to go on days out, take a more carefree approach to routines, and enjoy the company of family and friends, maybe even a holiday somewhere, but on the other hand there’s that worry of “but what about my business?” and “how am I ever going to have a successful business when I’m not working all Summer?” Read more
